The editorial policy of the journal is based on the principles of open access and best publishing practices (Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing) formulated by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

In its practical activities, the editorial board uses guides, flowcharts and other tools proposed by COPE to organise publishing activities and resolve ethical issues, as well as issues related to plagiarism, copyright, conflicts of interest, etc.

The editorial board of the journal shares the principles set out in the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). In particular, it condemns the practice of correlating a journal's impact index with the merits of a particular scientist, which can lead to bias and inaccuracy in the evaluation of scientific research. The emphasis on journals with a high impact factor can lead to strategic publishing practices that place the prestige of the journal above the quality and relevance of the research. The impact factor should not be used as a substitute for the quality indicator’ of individual scientific articles.
